An Outdoor Gym for Hazlemere - Public Consultation

The Council recognise that in today's busy environment it is difficult to exercise. Gym membership is not cheap or convenient for many.

The Council have already talked to members of the community and the level of interest has been significant. The chosen site would be the Rose Avenue recreation ground as it is central to the Hazlemere Community.

The types of equipment can be seen below. We would like to understand if the community would support this project and what equipment the public feel would be used.

The Council have agreed the best way forward is to go to public consultation which will run for 6 weeks. If there is enough support for an outdoor gym then the Council will go ahead with the project.

This consultation will kickoff at the Hazlemere Fete, the Parish Council has a stand; come along and tell your councillors what you think.

As part of the consultation we will also be doing a survey which is aimed at getting your comments.

Air Skier

Air Skier

By swinging both legs together from side to side the Air Skier strengthens and develops the lower abdomen hips and thighs, improves balance and co-ordination through "core" activation. Excellent warm-up and work-out for skiers, but also can provide gentle exercise for fitness beginners.

Air Walker

Air Walker

This universally popular apparatus provides excellent cardiovascular exercise while developing the leg muscles. Allows a full range of movement in the hip joint improving flexibility and strength, without any impact or stress to joints and back. Suitable for all ages and especially for those for whom jogging and power walking are not suitable.

Arm Pedal Bike

Arm and Pedal Bike

A cycling and upper arm exercise rolled into one. Coordination between leg and arm movement encourages balance whilst exercising too.

Bicycle

Bicycle

A classic leg cycling motion increases blood flow in the lower body. This therapeutic repetitive action helps with balance and coordination and cardiovascular work outs. Exercising for 2, 4 or 6 minutes at this low resistance is suitable for all abilities.

Chin Up Bars

Chin Up Bars

A strenuous but excellent exercise for strengthening and building muscles in arms and shoulders. The bars are set at different heights to allow either an unassisted lift starting with arms straight and feet off the ground or an assisted lift starting with the feet on the ground and beginning with a jump.

Cross Country Skier

Cross Country Skier

Similar to the Elliptical Cross Trainer this movement is less arduous and great for less agile users. Simply stand on the unit and let your feet slip back and forth whilst controlling the movement through the handles.

Disabled Arm and Pedal Bike

Disabled Arm and Pedal Bike

This piece provides a great way to exercise arms whilst providing those who require it, the option to also extend the muscles in their legs. This not only improves co-ordination but also helps to promote balance and core stability. The cycling motion helps to increase blood flow in the lower half of the body. VAT exempt.

Disabled Pull Down Challenger/Chest Press

Disabled Pull Down Challenger/Chest Press

This new initiative gives the option for two people to exercise together, promoting a social and motivating workout environment. The pull down bars are particularly good at improving strength in the back of the shoulders and arms while the chest press also allows the front of the shoulders and arms to be exercised. VAT Exempt.
